Significant Digits

Happy Palindrome Date Day! Or whatever we should call it. 02022020 is pretty neat. You all probably prepared for it. I didn't. Instead, it snuck up on me. I noticed it's shadow and went back into my hole. And now I am trying to prepare myself mentally for snow tomorrow.

Here is something neat that Enoch drew during sacrament meeting today that I liked:

This is Esther's take on what people said during testimony meeting:

Congrats to KC for the Superbowl win. I think Andy Reid was due. I didn't see it, but it sounds exciting. I'll have to watch the highlights later.

Yesterday we were privileged to attend the funeral of Susan's paternal grandmother, Maurine Guymon Nielson. Our children have no more great-grandparents now, which is sad for us (but wonderful for them). Maurine was also very kind and engaging, and she will certainly be missed. She was 97.

Susan and many of our children performed a lovely version of "My Heavenly Father Loves Me", with Marilyn Nielson accompanying. It was beautiful and invited the spirit. It didn't have a tenor or bass part, so Isaac and I did not participate, but Andrew sang falsetto with Joshua to help him out, bless his heart! Pamela Adams also sang. I wanted to post the life sketch Louie Nielson read, but it apparently isn't available yet. Instead, I have pictures of the program, below, to remind us of the experience and the person.

While looking for the life sketch, I also bumped into this bio of her maternal grandparents, Soren Villhelm Mackelprang and Adelia Estella Terry, including their experiences at Hole-In-The-Rock and Bluff. It is interesting. Maurine is listed as a source, having written
Generations of Montell and Minerva Guymon. We read a bit about them while in Bluff. Esther is named after Adelia. (I don't know why the bio has Soren as Samuel William instead -- I guess he changed his name in America?)

I am very grateful all my children, except for Gideon and Regan, were able to make it. All of Susan's siblings made it as well, which was special. (Gideon had an important audition for for which he desires acceptance, so it simply wasn't an option. Good luck, Gideon! We did all pray for you!)

I wanted to briefly mention an interesting experience teaching Sunday School today. I had some ideas about what we might want to cover, and brought a door hinge as an object lesson for part of it. After the announcements, I mentioned that sacrament meeting had no lull, and then asked if anyone would like to bear their testimony about the Book of Mormon. I had, I think, five people share their testimonies, which led directly to discussion on various topics. The only part of the lesson I prepared was a single scripture from the end of 1 Nephi 20, tying things together and closing with a brief testimony from me. I thought it was just what we needed, and was a terrific "lesson". What a great ward!

What a great gospel! How blessed we are to not only have a Savior, but know of Him. What blessings we receive from our loving Father in Heaven through His holy spirit!
