I am way, way behind in things I have wanted to send. Lately, in the evening, the last thing I want to do is turn my computer back on.
First, to Regan and Sam: Ladies, I am now including you in my super-duper important (feel free to roll your eyes here) family news emails. If you don't want to be included in my email updates, just let me know. Much of what I send I include on my blog.
1. At the dinner table, Enoch asked Susie if it was true that she had a "baby die in her tummy". I think Susie miscarried four times during our marriage, and one was relatively late-term. So, yes she did, and Susie replied to Enoch in the affirmative.
I'm sure the question made perfect sense to him, somehow conflating miscarriages and Lucy as our prematurely born child. But, I fear we surprised him and hurt his feelings as we all broke into uncontrollable laughter. Sorry, lil' buddy!
2. Enoch read aloud from a passage in our "Come Follow Me" manual for individuals and families, and it mentioned that Paul preached with boldness. Enoch read "blondness". My response is to tip my head to the side, click my tongue on the roof of my mouth and say "like, fer sher, totally, ya know!"
3. I may have already related this, but I got a blast of memories from the past talking with Sam and Marilyn (Sam is Susie's brother). As they have traveled and rented homes, they mentioned that their favorite rental was a home in Oregon near some berry farms and hazel nut trees. I commented that I grew up in a place like that in Oregon. Sam asked where, and I said, "it was a little town called Hubbard, but we lived outside of town on Boones Ferry Road".
Why I felt the need to mention the road, I don't know. But, Sam's eyes grew wider and he said "our rental was just off of Boones Ferry Road!" We looked it up and it is just down the road from where we rented a home on the Fagg's homestead there. Very unimportant, but I thought that was really cool.
4. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I think Susie asked Lucy to hand the dog to her, and Lucy said something about how she didn't want to because she loved Marcus. Susie then said, "but Lucy, I love the dog more than you."
I then said, "Really? You love the dog more than Lucy?" And we laughed. If you leave the word "do" off the end of that sentence, it really changes things! But, in the context given, neither Lucy nor Susie even realized it. I, however, notice things like that because ... well ... because I am odd.
5. In a similar vein, Susie and I were a bit away from our car when she realized that Rachel needed a ride somewhere and she asked me if I would "get the car and run her over".
I think that is over-reacting, and the wrong solution to the problem.😁
Injury updates:
As you know, Andrew did, indeed, break his thumb a few weeks ago. He cut his cast off himself rather than go in to the doctor.
Enoch was having vision problems after coming down on his tooth and upper jaw really, really hard. He complained of "cold eyes" and would blink a lot. The family practioner and opthamologist both decided it must be the result of trauma to nerves up around is sinuses. After a few weeks of blinking, Enoch is also back to normal.
I love you all! Take care and God speed!
Oh, and FYI, I am taking Susie away for two days and one night on our anniversary. Miriam was happy to be the babysitter-in-chief on August 21st, but maybe say a prayer that morning for her and our children at home!
