Lori Altice invited the remainder of the Benge Family Singers (or whatever we call ourselves) to perform at the family night for the "Empty Nesters" in the ward: all the couples who no longer have children at home. Everyone here agreed to prepare, even with Rachel being gone a lot. (Thank you, children!)
So, we started to work on some of the things we done in the the past and some things the children were working on. Susie put together a fun little program, roughly sketching out the music trajectory of our family.
For the opening number, Susie decided to perform Debbie Boone's "You Light Up My Life", which she had performed as a child. At the end of the number, Sister Benoit, teary-eyed, said this was she and Randy's "song", and they had just returned from an anniversary trip. A tender mercy for them.
Below, I added video of some of the numbers that were done. I thought older children might appreciate some of the numbers that they have performed in the past, like "Silhouettes", "Honey", etc. and a couple of others you probably haven't seen.
Besides those numbers, Susie and I sang "Always", which was OK ... but my voice is so very warbly and uncontrolled that it really frustrates me. Rachel and Esther did "Stepsisters' Lament" again. Our family also did "Light In The Hallway" with Joshua singing the lead.
