Of Lice and Women

Dearest, here is an account of our family adventure this evening, with some background.

Susie felt that Esther had lice and took her to the doctor. Her head was constantly itchy and irritated. Then Rachel started having symptoms. But, the doctor said Esther did not have lice.

I think medical professionals should take mothers more seriously.

Juliette, a little girl Susie tends (and thus Rachel and Esther tend) about once a week, got lice. Her mother took her to Lice Clinics of America in Murray, and they confirmed she had lice, and the person treating her said it looked like she had had it for about a week. (Clearfield once had a clinic, but it went out of business during COVID.) This fact was enough for Susie to set an appointment for all of us this evening, before Rachel tended another family's child and before Susie and I leave for Jackson, Wyoming, on a short anniversary trip.

Sure enough, Esther and Rachel had lice. A bit of proof from the special comb used on Esther:

Lice Clinics of America used a special "blow dryer" to kill most or all of the lice and nits, then put special oil all over their scalps and hair, and covered their head with a plastic cap.

And now they have really neat-o hair styles going on:

They will go back to boring hair styles after showering, and will do some intense hair brushing soon.

Susie, knowing this would likely be the result, spent all day washing sheets and pillow cases and towels and pajamas and everything she could think of that might be suspect. She was very nit-picky.

We apologize for being cootie-carriers and nitwits, and hope you do not get infected, as that would be really lousy

(Italics indicate that an English lesson is being taught.)

We love you all! Have lice nice evening!
