Buckaroo Benge in the 21st Century. And Related Chimichangas.

I've always wanted to watch a football game at Layton Christian Academy. It is on the edge of the ravine leading down to Hobbs Reservoir below, and I find it very picturesque.

There isn't much room for the field at the 1A school. The corner of the North end zone is about one foot away from a support wall about eight feet high. A tree line on the edge of the hill is only a few feet behind the South end goal posts: extra points and field goals almost always result in someone having climb down the hill to find the football. An errant punt to East would also send the ball down a steep incline.

I finally went to a game because my nephew, KC Benge, played a game there on October 9th. The Monticello Buckaroos even won, 21 to 20! It was fun to watch #7, even if he spent most his time on the sidelines.

Writing of football, Joshua played flag football again this year, and did well, scoring a couple of touchdowns for the team and playing some nice defense.

One of the more vocal players insisted that we call the team the Chimichangas. I typically just cheered "go blue" or "go white".

He also had his twelfth birthday in September. He is a fine son.
