The Huge Crust Crack. AKA ...

... The Grand Canyon.

That's why I have not been tasked with naming things. Children, be thankful for your mother, or you might be going by "Mercedes" or "Banjo Bongo" or "Wittle Fwuit Woop" right now.

But, about that huge crust crack ... attached are pictures of our vacation in October. I decided to just attach a whole bunch of them. Enjoy!

I have many more photos than this, which I hope to have available on my Plex server, soon.

We enjoyed Cedar Breaks National Monument on the way to Arizona.

We also stopped at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon before continuing on to our hotel in Williams, Arizona.

Bright Angel Point really leads one out to a point.

Everyone sped ahead of Lucy and I. So, I have more pictures of Lucy!
We got to our hotel late, but we were glad we stopped. The views were stunning. We had planned to eat in Flagstaff, but all that backtracking left us so late that we stopped at a restaurant in Marble Canyon. W

The North Rim parking lot and lodge are really off of a large canyon that feeds into the canyon where the Colorado River flows. The Colorado River valley is at the back of this picture. Way back.

In the morning, we spent a little time enjoying Williams, Arizona.
We enjoyed Pete's Gas Station Museum. Much of the downtown along Route 66 is like museum road, preserving much of the old Route 66 flavor.

Next we went to the South Rim of the Canyon.

A Raven.
A squirrel.

You can just make out the Colorado River.

A blue bird.

Hi, Rachel!
Hi, Gideon!

A babe and a football.
On the way up to the South Rim, we noticed that a forest fire was still smoldering not far from our hotel. We didn't notice any smoke the night before, as it was very windy our first night there. As we returned to the hotel on the 18th, the air was filled with smoke. It was dark, so we could still see the red of some small fires burning. The smoke made it hard for me to fall asleep that night, even though I was exhausted.

But, before we headed to our hotel for some much needed rest, we decided to stop at one of the Williams diners on Route 66 for some even more needed refreshment.

We parked next to Twisters, but the sign said it was closing time. So, we walked next door and waited ... and waited ... and waited ... . They were very busy, and didn't seem to want to serve our large group. So, I walked back to Twisters. It was now past closing, but the sign said they were open. I popped my head in and asked if they were closed. The young man and young lady working the place said they would be glad to serve us. They were cleaning up, but connected bar and gift shop to the west were still open anyway, and they encouraged me to grab my family from next door and bring them over.
I especially liked a photo inside of Twisters
years ago ... with the same car out front.
Like some of the other businesses on Route 66,
Twisters had colorful, old car out front.

Somehow, I managed to make
everyone look awful in this photo.

Our hotel. The smoke is gone!
Last stop before heading heading to our hotel in Cedar City: Hoover Dam.
